I have had “hard work” drilled into my head in more different ways than I can even remember.
Well, as hard as I worked I feel like I should be a gazillionaire! It wasn’t until I was over 40 that I finally figured out that it wasn’t about how hard you work as much as it was about how smart you work.
Great work ethic will get you farther than the lack of it, hard work will get you farther than laziness, however, working smarter is the key to success.
If the work you are doing isn’t the work that is going to ultimately make you successful, what is more of it going to achieve?
Think of the hamster in the hamster wheel. What will that hamster accomplish if it spends more hours in the wheel? If it’s goal is to get in better shape, it might be on the right track but if the plan is to do something bigger, no matter how many hours they spend in the wheel, they still aren’t going to get anywhere and nothing is going to change.
If you find yourself constantly in a reactive mode of operations, you never have enough time to work on those dream goals and/or you are just doing what you have to each day not really knowing why or where you’re going, I encourage you to start scheduling some time to change this. Set some big end goals, create plans to achieve your big success, improve your systems and find ways to accomplish more in less time. There are no trophies for working harder!
One way to work on this is via peer to peer coaching. WAM! offers you a safe place to help you with the support, accountability, feedback and education you need to be as successful as you can be. RSVP now for one of the two meetings taking place tomorrow.
