The third Wednesday of each month I host a little event we call Bullets, BBQ and Beer. Although it’s set up via the Marine Corps League we can each bring non-Marine guests. This week I brought a young man who used to work for me a few years ago and three of my fellow Marines brought their children. It was great seeing the kids and watching their parents instruct them on the safety and skills of shooting and just spending that quality time with them. If you would ever like to be my guest, just let me know.
I spent three days helping a friend replace damaged pieces of cedar siding on their house, took dad to dinner and a cruise in on Friday, mowed dad’s grass, watched the dirt track stock car races on Saturday and on Sunday I squeezed in some fishing with a friend, a pool party and then a movie with Michele.
While in the pool I overheard a group having a conversation about work and retirement. The consensus was that they would all work forever because they just couldn’t imagine just sitting around retired. I have heard this before from so many different people and it just doesn’t make sense to me. I just did more in the last five days than some people do in months and my only problem is that I didn’t have enough time to do more. Do you think these people really want to work or that their retirement plan just isn’t what they hoped it would be? More on that in the tip of the week.
I’m off to enjoy another week of this awesome summer! Hope you have a good one and that we talk soon.
