Yes, more about goal setting and planning. No, you don’t have to hear it from me again. This week, Roger is bringing us our tip of the week. Reach out to him if you have any questions about it, he really does enjoy helping others as well.
Greetings and Happy 2022 to everyone reading this newsletter! Perhaps you’ve read my bio and seen that poor photo for the last few weeks. Hopefully, I don’t look that bad in person! I promise to replace it soon. I’m glad to become part of the WAM! team and look forward to a lot of changes this year. I also bring a new perspective but, despite our differences in methodology, Walter and I both want you to succeed!
It’s the season where everyone wanting to change their future re-sets their goals. I’ve done this for more years than I care to admit with great intentions but mediocre results. Perhaps you feel the same way! Why? I learned the main reason is that we are setting Action Goals. These are what Walter described in his last two posts. I agree we need to know exactly what we want, determine a reasonable time to obtain it, and create an action plan. Sounds simple, right? Action Goals are what we must apply the SMARTY test to. Yes, SMARTY: Specific – Measurable – Ambitious – Realistic – Time framed – YOURS! That last one contains the key to why most of us fail. We expect different actions from the same person; ourselves!
It was only a couple years ago that I learned Character Goals were perhaps more important than Action Goals. Despite our inherent resistance to change, we’re all human with our unique set of experiences and emotions. Yes, even us men! Instead of asking ourselves how we can lose 30 pounds, change careers, start a new business, or double the revenue of the one we own, the real question is who do we need to become? What habits do we need to change? What’s holding us back from becoming the wealthy entrepreneur of our dreams? This takes a real gut check! First, it requires us to admit we have faults. Second, it requires us to address them, a task that usually requires getting help from someone else. As Walter put it three weeks ago, “Entrepreneurs are inherently stubborn…(but) the most successful ones will all tell you that they couldn’t have achieved their success without help from others”. That’s where both WAM! and a leadership coach come in. How many more years do you want to reset the same goals?
If you’re tired of fighting the battle alone and are ready to have a team of like-minded people on your side, I invite you to contact me directly at my personal email address (doginthehunt@gmail.com) so we can determine the best way forward. Don’t take last year’s baggage into this year’s battles! There is no obligation so I challenge you to let down your walls and give us a chance to help!
Sincerely,
Roger Braswell
