Wow! This past week was a full week of living!
After a fun weekend of camping and right after writing to you all last Monday I headed out to the Families of the Wounded golf tournament at Brandermill. A great day spent with many Veterans, active duty Marines and soldiers and friends, golfing and visiting. It helped that I played well too.
Tuesday began with a really good WAM meeting. We spent some quality time digging into the emotions of business ownership, why we have them, how to overcome them, etc. I left there to get an estimate on my truck, enjoyed lunch at Sportsman’s, worked on the garage project for a few hours and then went to our first night of the fall season pool league. The pool team started out with a big win. I didn’t play but Dan got his first win and a rackless, Mike beat his opponent 3 and 0, our newest player Lew won his first match and Scott and David both won against higher ranking players. We finished the night with a 12 to 2 victory.
On Wednesday morning I went back to touch up some drywall at my friend’s house in Brandermill, picked up some donated items for the golf tournament, worked on the garage a few more hours and then met up with a few of my fellow Marines for some shooting at Green Top shooting range. We had a great time trying out each other’s toys, a little competition and a lot of banter followed by a little hanging out time at the Mexico restaurant near the range. I always enjoy hanging out with my Marine family and we all made a commitment this time to hang out even more.
Swinging For Success is back and for this month we played at Hanover Golf Club on Thursday. It was a perfect day out, we had some new players join us and even though it was a busy and play was slow, no one was in a hurry and we got to spend some extra time visiting and getting to know each other. It’s what Swinging For Success was meant to be. I can’t wait until next month when we do it again at Stonehouse golf course.
I snuck in a little fishing Friday morning. Didn’t catch anything but really enjoyed the peace and fresh air before heading over and spending a full day working on the garage. Before heading over to the garage Saturday morning I got in a visit to the Gilman Farms swap meet where I ran into some old friends and found a couple sweet deals. I have been looking for a while for just the right camping knife and I found a post WWII bayonet with sheath for only $30. Most of these I have found at other sales were between $150 and $200. I also found a military issue back pack for $50 and when the guy sold it to me he told me there was some campaign stuff in it and that I could just have it all. When I got home I sat down with Michele and dug it all out and there was a brand new water filtration kit, Gerber saw, a Maglite and more. I looked everything up online and it was like a $140 worth of stuff in the pack. Score!! After dinner I went to Your Place Bar & Grill and hung out there for a couple hours.
On Sunday I played in one of the coolest golf tournaments I have ever played in. It was hosted by Hanover Golf Club and it was so much fun. On just about every other hole they had a tent with different cocktails, different food and different games. I played with my brother and a couple of his friends, I played great and we laughed and enjoyed ourselves a lot.
After golfing the week ended with a really nice dinner at Riptides in Chester where Michele and I joined her friends Jackie and Carl. A nice way to end the week.
This week is going to feel boring compared to the last couple but I think I need the rest 🙂
I am so appreciative of the choices I have made. I could easily make a list of all of the things I don’t have but I have chosen to make the best of what I do have and feel like I am doing a damn good job of that. Are you going to have some fun and enjoy some of what you have this week? I sure hope so.
Talk to you next week.
