Well my week started out pretty normal. I visited Lowes for some more materials for the deck renovation I’m completing for a friend, worked at their house for a few hours and then Michele called to let me know she didn’t have to work that night so I cut out early to enjoy a dinner out with her. We ate again at Kitchen 33 and it was great.
I kicked off Tuesday with a WAM meeting. Since our submarine pilot is off doing that all of the time now, another member retired and a third is completely changing gears, we are looking to add a couple members. We are looking for candidates who are either self employed or want to be, can be open and honest and who would be willing to offer as well as accept honest feedback from others, please let me know. There is a little bit of an interview process but it’s important that we find someone who will be the right fit.
After talking about it for I don’t know how many years I finally had a picture made with Dad and I’s boot camp pictures side by side. I picked it up Tuesday and delivered it to Marjie at Mission BBQ and when she saw it ask if that was my dad I just started balling. LOL It’s funny how and when those moments happen. Anyway, Marjie placed it on the wall right where everyone stands in line and I couldn’t be more proud. Now I get to “hang out” with Dad everytime I go there.
From there it was off to Your Place for a double header pool league night. I played two exciting matches. In both I was matched against an equal handicap player, both of us 5’s, and in both we were tied going into the last game. I lost the first one and won the second one. It was pretty exciting. Everyone on the team had a great time but because of Your Place having to accommodate other teams from another local venue that surprisingly shut down, we only had one table to use and we didn’t finish until well after midnight. I am definitely enjoying the league a lot more than I ever have with this team of guys who are just focused on having fun.
Wednesday and Thursday were spent mostly working on the deck and I took Friday as an errand day with a lunch date with my brother. It was supposed to rain Friday afternoon but of course it ended up not raining at all. I greatly enjoyed a very long lunch with my brother, some good times at the barber shop with Tony and his crew and another nice dinner out with Michele.
Saturday night my friend Mike and I went to the old Saluda Raceway, now called Virginia Motorsports or something like that, to see the flat track motorcycle racing. It had been sixteen years since they raced there and it was great. There was a more than two hour rain delay but that made for a great opportunity to walk around, check things out and visit with other spectators. During one of those visits I actually found myself in a conversation with a guy I used to race with. We never would have recognized each other and we only remembered each other from our race numbers. LOL Hopefully, they are going to host this event once a year now.
My week was completed with another nice dinner and a movie with Michele. Onto another exciting week, finishing this deck, knocking out a little post inspection punch list on the flip house, helping my son at his house, helping Shelby at her house, knocking out a couple projects at my own house, pool league, two scheduled coaching sessions, a golf tournament on Saturday and a group dinner at Tanglewood Ordinary on Sunday. I have to get rolling!
I hope you have a fantastic week!
