Well this is a tough time right now. Dad’s condition has worsened and he is now under hospice care. My brother, his wife, my nephew and I have spent time with him everyday this past week to try and make him as comfortable as possible.
One of the exercises we have been doing is to play some of his old favorite songs for him. Working with my dad in the garage and around the house Dad was famous for singing one line from many different songs. I didn’t even know if some of them were real or made up. They’re real and we found so many of them. Of course Dad had his own version of some of them but it made for some good moments for my brother and I.
I’ve heard people talk about dementia and Alzheimer’s but I sure didn’t understand it or it’s effects until actually confronted by it. I don’t wish having to go through this on anyone.
In between all of the visits to Dad’s I was able to still oversee getting a lot of work done on the newest house I’m working on, had a great appointment at the house I flipped (cross your fingers that they put in an offer), attended a very productive WAM meeting, joined the new pool team for a practice session, enjoyed an evening at golf league and spent a little time at the driving range with my brother and nephew.
How was your week? What do you have planned this week?
