I love my life. While I could easily make a list of all of the things that didn’t and still aren’t working out like I would like them, I’d much rather focus on what has gone right and how much I am enjoying them.
I want to help more people enjoy their life more. This week was a great week for helping some of them. I worked with a young man growing his construction business, a young lady working through new challenges in her existing business, a woman in her fifties in her second year of business, another woman in her fifties making big moves, a man in his thirties trying to reel in all thats in his business and another man in his forties working through the complexities of stepping away from his business. Those are just the conversations I have notes on.
Maybe, just maybe, I am making a little bit of difference in some people’s lives and moving them from the unhappiness of the rat race we’ve been brainwashed into pursuing to a more peaceful place of gratification for what we have, self love of who we are and just plain ole enjoying life. That would make me feel even better.
Speaking of enjoying life! This past week I orchestrated a really cool project at a friend’s house. I had to bring in help for this one. We removed the back door, a nearby window and the wall in between them and inserted a ten foot wide glass door system to improve her view. This was fun! Well, except for the struggles with the moving of the plumbing, the time I spent working at the house, the smells and mess of having to cut the main drainage line under the house (yep, the line that the toilets drain through), the confusion of the moving of all of the electrical wires and the stress of whether or not this would all work and the door would even fit. Do you see what I did there? I think so many people would look at a project like this and first never even attempt to tackle it at all and if they did, all we would hear about would be all of the things that didn’t go right, were hard, etc. Me; I think it was fun and I appreciate that I had the opportunity to do it and learn from it.
When I wasn’t working on that I had a fun night at pool league. I’m so glad that I got these guys together for this. I enjoy it and I like watching them enjoying it. Being “obligated” to a league like this pushes all of us to take that time for ourselves and have that fun even when we are “too busy” to do so. The team is also doing better and next season we may even be one of the leaders. Want to play on our team? I do need one more guy that wants to hang out with us. It doesn’t matter how good or poorly you play, it’s all handicap adjusted. Sorry, ladies, I’m keeping this team an all boys one.
After working Wednesday I took the guys helping me back to Your Place Bar & Grill for dinner and a little more pool shooting. On Friday I enjoyed Mission BBQ with one of the guys helping me, got to know him a lot better, and then cut out early and went golfing with my old friend Sam again. Saturday was spent running around knocking things off the to-do list, always feels good to do that. Sunday morning started off with breakfast with my daughter and dropping her off at the airport. Followed that with a trip to my friend David’s house so we could replace the starter in my truck. That went smoothly so I ran home, changed and snuck in a round of golf before going to dinner and margarita night with Michele and our neighbor.
Another full and fulfilling week! I can’t wait now to embark on this one. I plan on getting in some more golfing, doing some prep work for an upcoming camping and tubing trip (want to go?), knocking some more things off the things to do list, playing in a new pool tournament, maybe going to races Saturday night (want to go?), working with some more folks on their future successes, trying to work in some training time for hiking, spending some quality time with Michele and who knows what else I might get into!
How about you? What are you going to do this week? Not excited about it? If not, get with me and let’s work on that.
