It’s Thanksgiving week and I am very thankful.
I’m thankful to have been able to spend so much time with my father, Michele & Savannah, my brother and his family, my step brother who was hear from Nebraska, a group of friends golfing at Mattaponi Springs, another group of friends playing texas holdem, another one shooting pool and a few more at the annual Board Retreat with Beacon Tree Foundation.
Michele is on a cruise this whole week so I will be spending even more time with other friends and I’m looking forward to it. What are your big plans this week?
I also attended a WAM meeting last week and we discussed different types of relationships on social media, in business and personally. I have lived in several different places, had different careers and been involved in many different things which allowed me to meet a lot of different people. I have maintained a lot of these relationships. Just about every week I am doing something with someone that I met several years ago as either a co-worker, client, employee, strategic partner, vendor, team mate or someone I coached.
I’ve read more than once that it’s best to limit your circle to like 5 or 6 people but I couldn’t imagine that. I can’t think of any 5 or 6 people who enjoy enough similar things as me. Maybe I have so many different relationships because I enjoy doing so many different things?
I think my questioning of all of this came from the struggles that occur when I disagree on things with so many of my friends but after reflecting on it I am realizing that I enjoy having a lot of relationships with a lot friends and the more people I’m talking to, the more times I am going to disagree with people.
My point, I’m very thankful for everyone in my life. Happy Thanksgiving!
