I found so much to be thankful for this week.
I was able to see my Dad four days this week. We went to dinner, grocery shopping, checking out his new apartment and more. I do greatly appreciate that I am able to spend this time with him.
Self employment has had its ups and downs but the ups have definitely made it worth it. I am going to expand on this in the tip of the week.
Monday evening I enjoyed a very productive board meeting and then dinner with the West Richmond Businessmen’s Association. While I’m not really focused on business anymore I still greatly enjoy the camaraderie. Our speaker Monday was the CEO of the organization proposing to build the Casino in Richmond. I learned a lot listening to him. I’m looking forward to our social on Tuesday, November 8th. If you would like to be my guest, just let me know.
Wednesday evening I had a great session with my coach. Yes, I’m still seeing a coach myself. I really want to help more people broaden and achieve their successes and I’m trying to figure out how to do that better while still being retired.
I did attend a WAM meeting on Thursday and I am really glad I did. The members had a very productive and informative discussion about fear. I’m pretty sure everyone in the meeting came out a little more confident and ready to be more successful themselves.
Right after the WAM meeting I was able to get in a round of golf with a good friend. We played at Viniterra again and I was able to make it 18 holes without duffing a shot. I hope we have a light winter, my game is progressing so much these last few months and I don’t want to lose it. I’m really looking forward to my upcoming Myrtle Beach trip, four days straight of golfing!
After golfing Thursday I had to meet the Lowe’s delivery driver at my friend’s house. I was caught off guard when the driver stepped out and announced that he just knew there could only be one Walter Cornett. It turns out I used to coach him in little league football over 25 years ago. He is also a Marine and will be joining me for Bullets, BBQ and Beer on November 3rd.
Friday morning I had a great meeting for the 2022 WAM Charity Golf Classic benefiting Beacon Tree Foundation. Thanks to an idea from Roger we have found yet another way to really improve on the benefits for the businesses who partner with us. I’m glad everyone involved is already so excited this far in advance.
Saturday I was able to enjoy Savannah’s piano recital, a movie at the theater and then dinner with her and Michele. Savannah’s is really doing well with the piano playing. We saw the Halloween Kills movie, Michael Myers is still alive! Lol
In between all of that, I helped a friend repair some rotten fascia board and two sliding glass doors on her house.
The week was really capped off with a meeting on Sunday with a husband and wife who have both been told that they will lose their jobs if they do not get the vaccination. Each of them has been at their jobs for over twenty years, work extra hours, been promoted, etc. They approached me about the options of self employment. The meeting ended with them so excited about the opportunities that they said they will probably do it whether they actually get fired or not. Realizing how trapped they are and seeing the freedoms they could have was an eye opener for them. I hope to be meeting with them again very soon.
Call me, I’d enjoy talking to you. For now, I’m off to breakfast at Shorty’s Diner!
