I have been asked this question by a lot of people contemplating entrepreneurship.
The answer to this question is going to be different for everyone and it has to begin with figuring out what you want.
Many want more freedom and more money only to pursue businesses in a way that will not only not accomplish either but will do just the opposite. You need to create a plan in which you can make more money in less time.
For others they just want to enjoy work more so they open a business doing what they like doing. If you like cooking, ask yourself how much you would like cooking every day with the burdens and responsibilities of your meals having to be purchased and enjoyed in order for you to pay your bills. Maybe, it’s best to find a business that will simply allow you more time and money to enjoy cooking more as a hobby.
One more thing I have heard a lot is simply the desire to do something more meaningful or impactful and again you’ll have to dig deep. Can you do something that will satisfy you emotionally and still create the income you desire or should you separate the two and focus on creating a business that allows you the time and freedom to pursue something philanthropic on the side?
