Spent some time last week with the owner of a garage door installation and repair business and encountered another repeated scenario.
This gentleman was spending a lot of money on marketing and advertising and getting very few results. The only answer he had to solving this was to do more and different marketing and advertising.
In just one hour we were able to come up with a plan that cut his marketing budget by 75% and will create more and better clients for him.
Once again what I saw is someone simply following the advice and habits of what everyone else was doing without assessing their own goals, business and resources. What works for a multi-million dollar business doesn’t normally work for a micro business.
At the same time, whether you are just starting or your goals don’t go beyond owner operator, getting new clients shouldn’t be your biggest problem. My experience is that those in these categories who are struggling for new clients are doing so for other reasons that can be easily adjusted. Sometimes it just takes an outside eye and a little push.
