There is a box for everything, right? Is there a one size fits all box? Are there too many or too few boxes? What if you don’t fit in any box?
What am I talking about? I’m talking about getting “out of the box”. Not only do I talk to different people everyday about many different topics but I also spend a lot of time everyday talking with myself. I have spoken to you before about things like being crazy, doing things differently and not following the norms of society and all of these are just becoming more and more relevant to me everyday.
Simplified, I see too many people trying to fit into boxes instead of just being themselves, living their lives and even thinking their own thoughts. Instead, I see them working harder to be accepted. This is really bad when you realize that know matter what you do, everybody is not going to be accepting of it.
This applies both personally, in business, politically and more but since I’m not a therapist and I’m not running for office I’m going to stick to how this affects you in business.
One thing I have learned about entrepreneurism is that it in itself, is “out of the box”. Most of our society’s boxes include the path of schooling, followed by years of corporate or government service and then when you’re finally old enough, retirement. What’s amazing is how many people who step out of that box and become entrepreneurs, keep putting themselves into other boxes.
The biggest problem with being in these boxes is that you never get out of them. In fact, I feel like you just keep dividing yourself up into smaller boxes.
Think about and let me know what you are going to do in order to break out of your box!
