Trying to keep myself distracted from my social media addiction and the current events I just tried to keep myself busy this past week and it worked.
I helped a friend with a good old fashioned leaf clean up. No blowers or vacuums, just rakes and tarps. I got in some good exercise and thinking time. Tuesday was the Marine Corps birthday and I was able to spend that day with a bunch of fellow Marines on one of the most beautiful golf courses around followed by our own private party with cake, singing and fellowship. I visited my father twice and we ate, went to the grocery store and worked on his truck. Some good quality father and son time together. I exercised even more, pushing myself harder and setting some new personal records in both running and lifting. I spent another day golfing with my good friend Carl at another awesome course and enjoyed a couple great nights out with Michele eating and seeing a movie. I’m definitely in a better place mentally this week than I was when I was writing this last week.
I didn’t get through this little slump on my own though. I have spent several years building long term quality relationships with people and learning how to open up, allow vulnerability and share with others when I need help. Sounds a little like therapy doesn’t it? Well, I guess it is my form of therapy and it works.
I’m going to have a fantastic week this week helping friends, exercising, golfing, eating out, going to the movies and visiting with family and friends. I hope you have a fantastic week too!
