I’m in Iowa right now and believe it or not, it’s 40+ degrees and there is no snow on the ground. I really ended up picking a good week to visit Mom.
Before I left I enjoyed a nice dinner with my daughter and grandson to send him off the Air Force boot camp the next morning, attended another good WAM meeting during which time I think we really helped another one of our fellow members, worked on the house and did get all of the ceilings, trim and walls painted and had a nice long visit with my father.
Since arriving in Iowa I have had dinner with almost all of my family here, visited the Squirrel Jail in Council Bluffs, won a cool wooden Veteran Flag in a Legion Hall raffle and had a very successful run on the roulette table at the casino.
I really focused this time on just trying to relax. For the first time in a long time I needed that. I am feeling recharged and ready to get back to this house and finally finishing it, getting it behind me, recovering and taking the lessons from this one and moving forward.
Of course I’m not going to be fully charged until I get in a round of golf 🙂 so I have signed up to join the guys this Wednesday, my first day back, before I get to work.
I do want to thank all of you who wrote to me last week about my father. I always enjoy hearing from people so please never hesitate to respond with anything even if it’s just a simple Hi.
Talk to you next week.
