I remember when I heard retired people in my past tell me about how busy they were and I couldn’t understand it. Now, I’m living it! I’m loving it though and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to be able to do it. I wish I could help more people to experience it.
I kicked off last week with a meeting with Shelby to go over my books followed by a nice lunch with her. I followed that up with running errands, a WRBA board meeting, taking my dad out to dinner and then hanging with him in his new apartment and doing his laundry.
Tuesday I took dad out to breakfast, worked on a friend’s house for a little bit, went and got a haircut and then attended the WRBA social where I was able to reconnect with some old friends and visit with several current members.
Wednesday started off with another breakfast with my dad and then I headed to the Federal Club to golf with my brother, friends and about 25 fellow Marines in celebration of the Marine Corps birthday. After an awesome round of golf with perfect weather we had a cake cutting ceremony and the reading of the Commandant’s birthday message. I capped off the evening with dinner with more Marines at Mission BBQ.
Thursday was Veterans Day and began by picking up my favorite veteran, my dad, and taking him out for our free breakfast at Denny’s. I then ran him around to do his shopping before we met some friends at Mission BBQ for our free lunch. After that I took dad out and about until he gave up and said he was too tired to go to dinner. LOL I had to go to Buffalo Wild Wings for my free dinner without him.
I spent Friday and Saturday morning helping my friend at her house again. Saturday afternoon I worked the Marine Corps League table at the gun show at Richmond Raceway, went to dinner with Michele and Savannah and then met some friends for karaoke night at Gus’s in Mechanicsville. No, I didn’t sing 🙂
Yesterday, Michele and I drove down to North Carolina to meet her brother’s new baby and barely got back in time to watch Yellowstone.
When I was working it would have taken me weeks to do that much. The moral to the story, there is so much to do out there, don’t work so much!
In the Tip of the Week I am going to talk more about how to find the freedom to do more.
Hope you have a fantastic week!
