My tip for anyone looking to start their own business, or to improve their work life, or improve their life-life is this …believe in yourself. Easy, right? Not so much, for most of us mere mortals (anyone who has no issue believing in themselves and doing is most likely not reading this because they are busy). So how do you get there? How do you develop an unwavering self confidence in your ability and future? In Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill, the author shares with the reader a solution to many of our self confidence issues. Hill believes the keys to success or failure start and end inside our heads – I absolutely agree with him. His solution is basically talking yourself into believing in yourself. If we can convince ourselves a goal is possible, it is.
This is what Napoleon suggests we do…Write down (crucial step) your goal, when you will achieve this goal, and how you will achieve this goal… For instance: I will run a sub 4 hour marathon on November 2, 2021. I will achieve this goal by following the training plan in XYZ book. I will run every training run to the best of my ability. I will focus on my health. I will follow a hydration and nutrition plan… This formula can be applied to any goal. I want to make this much money. I want to achieve a certain position at work. I want to get the attention some girl/guy. Etc etc. Just plug it into the formula.
Now that you have your goal written down, place a copy of this note to yourself on your bedside table and read it out loud every morning and every evening before you go to sleep. Every morning. Every evening. Easy. Do it.
Every time you repeat your goal to yourself you are moving incrementally closer to actually believing and achieving your goal. After a few days, weeks, months you might just start believing you can get to where you want to go. Remove the barriers in your own head and failure won’t be an option, failure may be an impossibility.
This might seem trite, this might seem silly. Who cares? It doesn’t cost you anything. It doesn’t hurt anyone. Just do it.
Let me know how it goes.
