The past few weeks I have encountered so many people sharing with me their desire to be self employed. Unfortunately, they followed this with their “reasons” they couldn’t do it.
If you wish you were self-employed, what’s your “reason” that you “can’t” do it?
What I have found with most, is that their “reasons” are excuses and that they could be overcome if they simply committed to it and made it happen. It’s actually pretty simple. Simple, but not easy.
The most common “reasons” I hear are the lack of money, lack of time, too much risk and not enough knowledge.
Who said you need money to start a business? Of course you can’t start at the top with nothing but I have always been able to help people come up with a plan to get there starting with nothing. You have to have a little patience, but it can be done.
Everyone has the same amount of time available to them everyday, it’s how you use it. I have personally watched a woman with a new baby, husband, new house and 50+ hour a week job start her own business. She started by committing one hour per week and in less than two years she was able to quit her job and be completely on her own.
There are no guarantees out there but you can definitely limit your risk. This often comes back to patience. If you want to do it the fast way, there is probably more risk involved but if you are patient you can limit the risk to nothing more than your time.
The things that most people think they need to know about going out on their own are rarely the things that they really need to know. It’s what they don’t know that they need to know that they really need to know. 🙂 The most successful entrepreneurs open and succeed in businesses in fields that they know nothing about all of the time. How is that?
Are you ready to get out of the 9 to 5 cycle, escape the norm and find the freedom to do more of what you want to do?
