As a child I remember the majority of people in my life coaching me to go to college, get a job and stick with that job. The majority of them were ok with working somewhere over forty years and ending up with just enough to get by until you die. I also remember being taught by most to simply conform, be normal, etc.
I still can’t figure out why but normal never worked well for me, mediocrity did not challenge me and my list of adventures was long. I wanted more. I wanted to be an entrepreneur since before I even had a regular job.
Since I have been hearing for the majority of my life that I was just a dreamer, that I was basically crazy and more it doesn’t bother me anymore. I am learning recently though that it’s just this that is holding a lot of people back from doing amazing things. People want so bad to conform, to be normal, to not be picked, laughed at or questioned that they will hide their dreams in order to appease society. Sad isn’t it?
Is this you? How can you overcome this? One way is to seek out other people who are just as crazy as you with possibly even bigger dreams. We have one WAM! member who wants a submarine and I would bet money that one day, he will own one. If you study the most successful people throughout history one common occurrence you will find is their “uniqueness” and lack of “normalcy”.
Do you want to play it safe or do you want to be successful and make your dreams come true?
