What do I mean? Imagine the owner of a new lemonade stand trying to “get the word out” about their new business. We’ve all heard that before. They create a Facebook page, maybe even a website, boost a couple ads and attend a bunch of networking events.
Every opportunity they get they share with everyone they can, how great lemonade is. They have an amazing personality, people really like them and they do a great job of making people thirst for lemonade.
They do such a great job that their Facebook followers are compelled to run down the street and buy lemonade from the vendor right down the street from them. After one of the networking events one person was so excited, they realized that there was a lemonade vendor on their way home and they stopped and purchased one. Do you see where I am going?
They did such a great job of meeting people, being fun and friendly, telling people all about their product and even made sure to tell everyone their lemonade was better so why did the people they shared all of this with, buy from someone else?
Let’s look at it from another angle. You just had an urge for some lemonade. Where are you going to purchase it and why? Everyone you know has told you about all of the qualities of lemonade, they all told you they have the best customer service and they have all promised you the lowest price. Got you thinking?
What would your lemonade stand do differently?
