3295 miles in 14 days. Saw my sister and her family in Ohio, an old Marine Corps buddy I hadn’t seen in 34 years in Wisconsin, my Mom, sister and two brothers in Iowa, my best friend from high school who now lives in South Dakota, another old high school friend in Kansas City who I hadn’t seen since 1985 and all of the sights from all of the states I drove through.
And, I still have three more adventures scheduled before the end of the summer! How has your summer been going? If you’re not enjoying it, it’s not too late.
I spent a lot of time explaining to people “what I do”. It gets a little frustrating at times but I have learned that if you’re not going to do things the normal way, most normal people won’t understand it. If I just told people that I was 64 instead of 54 and that I had retired from the Marine Corps instead of getting out in 4 years then it would all make sense. I mean they would still have no idea how I live but it would fit the “normal” storyline and therefore it would be “ok”.
I mean, I see so many of my friends literally killing themselves in the pursuit of the bigger home, the newer car, the coolest toys, the nicest clothes and better looks and then they look at me like I’m the crazy one while their life is considered normal. I’d rather have the stresses of being the odd guy than the stresses of trying to be normal.
Anyway, I have to start getting ready for a camping trip 😉 Talk to you soon!
